| No friend, YOU aren't getting it.
D O N T G E T A G P H O N E!
Is that slow enough for you? Stick with your CURRENT phone on your CURRENT rate plan and F O R G E T about the gPhone. Your little world will remain T O T A L L Y unchanged.
A N D, I would find it HIGHLY unlikely that Sprint or Google or anyone else would let you have ANY smart phone without some type of minimal data plan. If you don't need it or can't afford it or don't want it you are not the target market. You are safe.
Never ceases to amaze me how people get so worked up about things that won't impact them. Step back and let those that want to see what this phone is and what it does have a look.
I can imagine a gPhone and I can imagine that Google is smarter than YOU and will know how to do this in a manner that doesn't urinate off the masses. |

oh stick with my current phone huh?
you think that this has ZERO chance of creating a new TREND in the cell industry? if google pulls it off sucessfully with adds that the other carriers won't jump right in if google makes it profitable?? You dont think adds will pop up on all kinds of phones and services if google makes it a money maker??
why do you think verizon now has a wonderful Iphone clone.
BTW you can get a smartphone/PDA without a dataplan very easly it just uses minutes. -- www.stopfcc.comI do not think the government needs to restrict free speech especially on a device that has an off knob. |

| said by P Ness:s. IT WILL IMPACT ME Such a statement of fact. Again, as you CLEARLY know what will be announced tomorrow please let us all in on it. I really want to know and since you have the future all mapped out lets have it.
And I wouldn't know about getting a smart phone without a data plan. I have one and I choose to pay for data. You don't. That's your right. |

| For the last time, and then I am done with you; Google has LOADS of services that don't have any ads (not adds as you like to call them) in them at all and never have. Here is a short list right off the top of my head:
1. All current services that you can access on mobile except search. 2. Google Calendar. 3. Google Docs. 4. Picasa Web Albums 5. Blogger. 6. Google Finance. 7. Google Maps. 8. Google Patents. 9. Google Reader. 10. Google News. 11. Google SMS.
That's 11 right off the top of my head. Kind of shoots holes in your entire "continues to implement ADDS in everything they do" theory, but you won't see it that way.
Simple fact is that MANY (may be most) Google products don't have ads in them at all. They never have and they never will. Google doesn't NEED to put ads in everything. They pocketed north of $1,000,000,000 (thats BILLION) in the last quarter doing things just like they are.
Again, you hate Google. Fine. Not everyone does and some of us even find great value in what Google gives us for free or at minimal cost. I have 3 premium apps accounts with 15 users total and I also have the 20GB storage upgrade for my Picasa account. Every member of my family and an awful lot of my friends use Gmail for FREE. For less than $800 a year I am set with everything that I need. Exchange would cost me more than $3,000 a year. I'm pretty happy.
Google set me up for FREE with real solutions that helped me get my businesses going. OF COURSE I can't wait to see what they gPhone is like. You seem hell bent on stopping me. Don't. |

Wrong....and if you look at their financials where do you think they are making 99% of that money? Here let me quote their financial filing Advertising revenues made up 99% of our revenues in the three and six months ended June 30, 2006 and 2007.
If you read their comments and filings about direction where do you think they are heading?
Read their SEC filing and you will see their mission statement »biz.yahoo.com/e/070809/goog10-q.html
Overview
Google is a global technology leader focused on improving the ways people connect with information. Our innovations in web search and advertising have made our web site a top internet destination and our brand one of the most recognized in the world. Our mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. We serve three primary constituencies:
Users. We provide users with products and services that enable people to more quickly and easily find, create and organize information that is useful to them.
Advertisers. We provide advertisers with several ways to deliver relevant targeted advertising including:
Google AdWords, an auction-based advertising program that enables advertisers to deliver relevant ads targeted to search results or web content.
Google Audio Ads, an automated online media platform that schedules and places advertising into radio programs.
Google Print Ads, a web-based marketplace for placing ads in print media.
Google TV Ads, an automated online media platform that schedules and places advertising into TV programs.
Google Video Ads, user-initiated click-to-play video ads that run on sites that are part of the Google Network.
How We Generate Revenue
We derive most of our revenues from fees we receive from our advertisers through our AdWords and AdSense programs.
Advertising revenues made up 99% of our revenues in the three and six months ended June 30, 2006 and 2007. We derive the balance of our revenues from the license of our web search technology, the license of our search solutions to enterprises and the sale and license of other products and services.
and look they wanted to branch out into something new called TV...lets see what they plan to do there
In the second quarter of 2007, we announced our trial to deliver Google TV ads to viewers and help advertisers, operators and programmers buy, schedule, deliver and measure ads on television. We recognize as revenue the fees charged advertisers each time an ad is displayed on TV in accordance with the terms of the related agreements. We consider the TV providers that participate in this program to be members of our Google Network.
Hmmm seems very adddddddddd driven
Guess we will see on monday if ADDDDDDDSSSSS are included or not and then either one of us can say "i told you so'
till then have a good weekend -- www.stopfcc.comI do not think the government needs to restrict free speech especially on a device that has an off knob. |

If you care to re-read the latest quarterly report for Google their NET profit was $1,069,000,000. That is BILLION, with a "B".
Further, if you care to go back and look at what I actually wrote you will see that nowhere did I state that the phone would be ad(d) free. What I said was that Google was smarter than you and they would find a way to not piss everyone off with the ad(d)s.
Here is a quote from the guy that is in charge of this software:
"No ad-supported phones, says Andy Rubin"
So, you were wrong. The phone will not be over loaded with ad(d)s. No need to come back. |

maybe you did not understand what i posted but i said "99% of their revenue/profits come from ad generated work." its in their report, read it.
i will give you the fact that the thing was announced and they said no ad generated programs so i lose that fight....tho i sware they said they would not do ads to utube too.....but i could be wrong.
good day and lets hope they hold true to their word..... -- www.stopfcc.comI do not think the government needs to restrict free speech especially on a device that has an off knob. |

Google certainly does make all of their money from ads. No doubt about it, but they make that money by having ads in certain places. Their big plan is to have you become reliant on ALL of their products but only show ads in certain places.
They know full well that people hate ads and they go well out of their way to provide MANY services that give people an ad free experience. I HATE ads, but just about the only place on the Internet where I don't block them is on Google's site. They have a way to do them that doesn't make me sick.
I do not recall anyone from Google saying that there wouldn't be ads on You Tube. Not saying that you are wrong, but in everything that I read around that time that one doesn't ring a bell. |
