| [Telephone] no back up battery port on my model.
Its a TM502A. Doesnt seem like its one that can have a backup battery installed. Not important as of yet, because im just trying it out and still have a landline. But hopefully they dont charge me to swap out boxes that has a battery backup slot available, if i decide to keep it. |

1 edit | The battery slot is avail on the tm502g,tm504g,tm504h,tm402g and tm402p models
Some systems like mine carry two types the 502a and the 502g with battery back up, in my system you have to ask for the battery backup to get it.

| reply to centsofhumor The battery port is on the bottom of the modem. It takes a small ni-cad battery that works really good. There is a $40.00 charge for the battery if you want one. Better option is to purchase a UPS and plug both the modem and a cordless phone into it. |

| If you don't order a battery with the install, you'll (likely) get an MTA that doesn't have the internal battery port.
One would think that the MTA wouldn't consume much power, so a relatively modest UPS should give you at least an hour or two of runtime, if not more. |

Nope, the monthly MTA fee would be the same, the charge for the battery is a 1 time fee and the battery belongs to you. I carry both models on my rig, one of the first questions I ask the customer is if they are interested in the battery option. |

| reply to centsofhumor I decided just to get a nice UPS for my MTA, cable modem, router and phone. The power went out once and it stayed up and running for almost 6 hours before the power went back on. I have a 375VA Belkin home UPS. I think it was about $40 after rebate. |
