Re: Bell Sympatico's War On 'Network Abusers' > HAHAHA

Oh Please, here we go again

Sympatico problems are:
- BS [Bell Sympatico] servers are not optimized for peak loads [get better admins]
- any BS MS [Microcrap] server attached to mainframe will slow down the whole area [chuck those Mirocrap servers]
- way too many blocks / throttles by BS [rewrite code to better handle full access loads]
- anyone using P2P, Skype, IRC, FTP servers etc. is being attacked wrongfully by Recording Industry and others and is put into a tarpit/honeypot leaving many connections open, average of 1400 per IP [block RIAA dumb servers and the likes]
- users in area hooked to same server(s) have bad lines, bad configs etc. [go fix them]
- 75 to 80% of BS customers still have old or bad lines
- BS has a very large outstanding debt which they need to get under control by overcharging users, same as Rogers did previously.
- Pressure from other providers is another factor in upping rates, throttling or charging more.
- Mike Sabia's pet project of India support sucks and it's wasting major resources/cash.
- last and the biggest mistake >> BS decided to join with Microcrap

Now for some good news:
- there is enough Black Fiber [not used / scheduled for expansion] to make every user have the ability of T1 connection and be used 24/7 without even a hickup, and if every person in Canada had their own server, and still have lots left over!

Above average users sum up aprox. only 0.1% of BS users. Definitely not a reason to throttle at all!

I suspect BS is forcing Teksavvy to up the rates, directly or indirectly. Another reason could be BS is planning on introducing 15 Mbps service.

In any case it's evident BS is in big trouble.

You are aware that a T1 is just 1.5Mbit/s, right? If you expect me to be "happy" with a T1, you're sadly mistaken.

Of coarse I realise this

The thing is when you pay for a T1 you get same speed per Downloads and Uploads UNRESTRICTED

Furthermore: I got blasted with calls from a number of networkers, backbone provider techies and admins telling me that Canada is capable of 25 to 34 Mbps dwlds and same uplds per every person in Canada at present [not just present subscribers] ... and they stressed this point >> "If Canada's ISP's would ever stop gouging customers!"

Number of them did stress tests which resulted in:
- running 4 PC's per LAN/IP and running all kinds of server apps per each [FTP, Jabber, IRC, Novell, Game, file sharing, ED2K, Torrent, Remote Administration, etc.]
- each was at least 1 province away
- high speed routers per LAN [running P1 or better CPU's]
- minimum of 150 PC's per IP block
They had no problems what-so-ever as long as they setup tarpits/honeypots to stop attacks as stated below.

One test was 100's of PC's per each province and they couldn't even come close to maximum throughput. This test concluded that it's major ISP's on same part of backbone that were slowing them down. This due to Worms, RIAA [P2P blackhole servers], bad configs and being attacked/tracked by other countries, mainly USA, China, Korea and others.

So, my mistake ... I stand corrected

I was told one more thing over and over, "... get them to provide proper services ..." "Start a revolt against user throttling ISP's" "... they have no right to choke connections below what people pay for." "Fight them till they provide 2/3 to 3/4 uploads of downloads [speeds]."

Love to see proof of that.

As I said, "prove" your statement. Otherwise it's simply your opinion.

Uh, nope. Learn what the phrase "burstable" means. You almost always pay for the bandwidth used on these kinds of lines. When you get an "unlimited" line, you're actually paying in such a way that they assume you're pulling a full 1.5Mbit/s 24/7.
