<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/745174"><b>dobeonguard</b></A> : I lived in Bucharest, Romania and had a 16/16mb line for about $30 or so per month. Fiber to each "block" is the norm. Metro speeds over ODC file sharing within the same ISP were about 100Mbs. Once in the country side, cable and some local providers also wire the city with Cat5. There is nearly a country wide provider of EVDO called Zapp mobile with 2mb speeds. They are still pretty much a third world country and manage pretty well. Here, the US is huge with many people just outside of town that have nothing other than satellite. I think the caps are insane, but I see how running a business on that scale requiring the millions of subscribers to share the same satellite. There would be no growth without growing pains. Raising the kind of capital to lauch a new bird isn't easy....]]></description>

There are limited number of transponders per satellite.<br><br>Say HNS provides you an unlimited bucket at 1Mb/s throughput.  If twenty users decided to download a DVD they would eat up an entire transponder.  That would cost $100,000 per user.  Obviously there is no way they can allow this.<br><br>What exactly would you like them to do? Bandwidth on a satellite is a very finite resource.  <br><br>Satellite companies are not a charity.. ]]></description>
