However, his government, i.e. ministers like Verner and before that Oda, have been more than receptive to the ministrations of the industry while being stone deaf to the public. So much for the "principle" of listening to the Grassroots. (And no "Steve", that's not the name of a new Canadian band.)

hmmm...that's odd...because i seem to recall the conservative appointee Maxime Bernier (when he was in charge of Industry Canada), put in the position by Harper himself, overruling the CRTC on some decisions, and forcing the CRTC to change some of their ways...if anything, things have improved since the conservatives were put there...that said, i don't know how the current "boss" is doing.
