Re: Cheaper then FTTP... I would say that the copper/VRAD is the least of their problems. RG / STB / Windows CE and IPTV in general are at the problems for those that actually HAVE the service.
I.E. having a sync of 85-100Mbps but no TV service IS an issue. Having the DVR not record what you want IS an issue
Having AT&T drop service for maint./upgrades IS an issue
National outage w/o notification or updates IS an issue
Having POTS wire for the last 1000-2000' isn't as much of an issue as the apps that are going across it.
AT&T couldn't have a city franchise, as they'd have too many complaints from locals
