Re: Too many issues...

Besides the typical '25Mbps isn't enough' or '50 year old copper' issues...
50 year old copper? Here? The house, itself, is only 42 years old. I guess Pacific Telephone predicted a development in this old orchard, and laid out the copper 8 years before the houses were even built.

(Not counting that the copper isn't really even 5 months old. Yet. All new when they conditioned the neighborhood for U-Verse. New than the old ATTBI digital coax which Comcast took over about three years ago.)

Technically speaking, the copper to my house is a little over a year old. I put in the 'quotes' as I expected a response or two from those that call it "tired / warn out etc."

They've actually been reconditioning the lines in my HOA tract (built in 1970) for the past 3 months and typically knock out my line daily for a few minutes.

I'm personally not worried about the last ~1200' (that's about what it is for me) to the VRAD. I'm more worried about the immaturity of the over IPTV product as a whole, fiber or VDSL. Reading all the issues over on »utalk.att.com and »uverseusers.com, I think I'll wait a while.

I think I am going to cop a "sour grapes" attitude. I believe we are just beyond the AT&T 3128 foot limit (by a few feet); but I am not really sure I want to give up DirecTV for U-Verse, anyway.

I wouldn't mind bundling VoIP, Internet and Wireless, but I don't think I'm ready for putting my TV service on IPTV through Uverse.
