Blame the falling dollar for this

The bigger makers of equipment that support Project Lightspeed are European and they do not price their products in dollars that's for sure. I'm suprised it's just half a billion actually.

Still in order to provide advanced services they will have to do channel bonding on already flaky runs and they will spend billions of dollars of dealing with outside plant issues. People will find out when it rains their speeds go into the gutter. Hell in desert areas it's really bad when it rains.

Verizon is already reaping the benefits of their new fiber connections. They have 1/10th of the plant issues compared to their copper plant. Given enough time that will pay for a good chunk of the deployed network.

Might as well do FIOS for that money.

Like my home. All the wire is bad inside and the NID looks real old so they have to replace all that stuff anyway so why not do it right the first time? Cox couldn't even use the wiring since it had shorts for Digital Phone.

Saving the world keeps me busy. However, I find Earth very primitive from my home planet of Krypton.
