Ok seems the DWA-142 is in USA market... so I going to assume that's better than the other one...

Germany		 I own 2 DWA-142 and they work very well with DIR-655 but they are connected with a cable and not as handy as a USB-stick.

 The latest ralink works best. It's more stable than the versions before.

If you want the d-Link Tool, the latest 1.30eu driver on the Swedish d-link ftp is the same version:
