Output bandwidth test

Anyone have a DS3 connection or better that can help me test our output?

I have the Crysis single player demo on a ftp server to test.

»ftp://test:test@137.164.168.69

We avg 38.2 Mbits/sec in and 1.24 Mbits/sec out. Something is not right.

Well I am on a 20Mbit connection (Level3 Sacramento) but I only seem get around 13Mbit downloading the demo off your ftp. Considering the low latency (18ms), your server also being on Level3, and how solid my speed was, it seems like it's being limited from your end.

My server is in LAX and has dual 100 megabit connections and I have no problem pushing 95 megabits in/out (180-190 megabits when utilizing both interfaces) to several test servers. If you want you can test here:

»ndt.dhspeedtest.com/

If you want an FTP account to test speeds just PM me and I can make you an FTP account.

Edit:

Whups, didn't see your link there, I am only getting about 1.25 megabytes/sec or so but its unstable. (18ms latency). This was with just one connection though. I went ahead and ran:

for i in `seq -w 1 10`; do screen -A -m -d -S down_$i wget --bind-address=208.113.204.20 -O /dev/null »ftp://test:test@137.164.168.69/Crysis_SP_Demo.exe; done

to do 10 downloads at once in the background and got a solid 5.4 megabytes/sec 43 megabits according to iptraf (no other traffic on that interface at the time). This appears to be near maxing the connection as well since latency raised by a good 10-15ms iwhile pinging your server when downloading at that speed. So it appears to be a issue on a single transfer basis. It doesn't surprise me if the server is using windows though. On my linux server with the web100 patch I am able to get 2.1 megabytes/sec download speed from it when downloading from my hotel's crappy cable here in Japan (130ms latency)

Here is the traceroute to your server:

I actually gave the test a try on my main interface (eth0) which was doing about 30 megabit outbound at the time and saw better speed on a single connection (1.9 megabytes/sec) which is taking a different route with better latency:

houkouonchi: 11:40 AM# traceroute -i eth0 -I 137.164.168.69

I am curious what you get to:

Both are in california but I am curious how much of a difference the web100 patch I have makes for you.

Hmm, surprised you weren't able to get a bit better than that. From my hotel in Japan I got quite a bit better:

xpsgen2: 03:39 PM# wget -O /dev/null »208.113.204.20/test64
--15:39:21-- »208.113.204.20/test64

15:40:06 (1.45 MB/s) - `/dev/null' saved [67108864/67108864]

No way to do a traceroute/regular ping but the latency is quite a bit higher:

xpsgen2: 04:02 PM# hping -c 5 -S 208.113.204.20

yeah I rarely net over 20mbps on that connection even though it is supposed to be 100mbps. Oh well, I only need 5mbps for gameservers anyways.

I get nearly identical results on a 100mbps connection in atlanta. 350kB/sec to crysis demo, and 850kB/sec to houkou's server.

I'm not allowed to post a traceroute though.
