You shouldn't have a problem to locate posts here with a step-by-step guide to unlock an RT31P2 device through a search button. Failing that, your best option is to contact DogFace05 to remotely NAizer (completely unlock and safe to a factory reset) your RT31P2 device.

No - they are built for different providers. You will get a file pattern error.

Have you tried a power cycle to see if that will do the trick? Otherwise, you will need to try to reset your device and do the unlocking again.

The only way that you can use the RT31P2's VoiP within your own LAN, is to have its WAN port connect to the same network segment as your LAN (and computer). This also implies that you'll have to rely on a second router for connection to the Internet. Furthermore, you'll also have to enable remote admin on the RT31P2 to be able to administer its settings from its WAN side.

Can't you just configure your SIP server to register as a client so that it will register to the account on your VoSP server?

For this to work, you will need to use different ports for signaling. Also, I believe you may want to enable LOOPBACK on your router if you want to be able to call from your RT31P2 to your computer.

Thank you for the replies.

I managed to found the problem. I installed wireshark and saw that ICS was not providing an IP to the router.

I got a free software called tftpd32 that is a tftp server and dhcp server. After that, router picked-up the file and i could get GPP_K from vonage and then later from factory.

I updated firmware back to 1.30 then i connected to WAN to run VuckFonage. I believe, router got to vonage again an updated XML file. Then, voice admin page asked for the passcode again. I used the one decrypted and It worked but as result i got the message "Hidden Page".

I tried the combination using phone dial. But i got no answer from router. Conclusion, i had to start it over.
Finally, everything is back working.

My conclusion is that guide is ok, but unlocking the router is not so straight forward, sometimes wierd things happens. Like second time i uploaded the plain xml i still got the router asking for the admin file. I uploaded it again and only after that is worked.

Result: files where not uploaded into router
3 - put xml text file into http directory and then files where picked up.

I don't know if made things even worse...
Please, help, i need advice.

The illegal pattern means that you are using the wrong firmware. If you have an AOL, Vonage or a true -NA, each has it's own firmware - they are not interchangeable.

If you're referring to this post, that's not what I said. Please go back and revisit it.

Depending on how you've configured the voice module, pressing the reset button can indeed reset it back to factory defaults. Note that the "user" password I refer to in the post, is not the same as the login password defined for the router section.

When pressing the reset button for 5 seconds, the router side issues a request to the voice module to factory reset its settings. If the voice module has been configured with "Protect_IVR_FactoryReset" disabled, it will always reset its settings without complaint. Also note that the router side, by default, issues the factory reset request using the router side login password. If this password matches either the user or admin password of the voice side, the reset request will happily go through as well.

A factory reset through the web interface will reset everything. The button on the back will not reset the voice.

There is a tiny piece of code added to these branded devices that contain a small config file. This file gets loaded, which includes passwords, when a factory reset is done. This won't go away by loading -NA firmware on it.

I tried with version 1.25 as version 1.27 is not available (i sent a PM to meister_sd, i hope he can send me).

In short method firmware it is rejected with a message ilegal pattern.
Interesting thing is that i also tried vonage 1.30 version and i get the same error.

In long method XML file neither firmware are loaded by device.

My hope, again, is that i can get version 1.27 and it works.

I surmise that the firmware updates of any other revision may not be accepted if the VM firmware doesn't agree with the router firmware. This has the additional backing from a test in which I was able to send it a custom-modded firmware with a VM release that was different from the router release. It accepted one segment, flashed it, and failed on the second segment. Therefore, the two halves were left out of sync, and they wouldn't connect to each other.

Update for the status
Again thanks everyone who contributed to this forum and made this Fon@ge RT31p2 unlock possible.

I have successfully unlocked this router, I also get the two GPP_K value, and update the firmware to RT31P2_v1.30.01_000_VM_3.1.06_LI_combin_code.bin
I have changed the setting from plain text file "Protect_IVR_FactoryReset ua="na"|No|/Protect_IVR_FactoryReset" to "Protect_IVR_FactoryReset ua="na"|Yes|/Protect_IVR_FactoryReset" and set the voice admin and user password.
I had set the voice provision to NO and clear the two F0n@ge DNS entry.

Now my question is:
Can I confirm that this router wouldn't re-lock even do a factory reset?
Do I need to do any further action on this Router?
Can I upgrade the router to the latest NA firmware?
