This is quite a broad category, as the products listed may be used for creation, mixing, enhancement, and/or conversion of audio files. Some products do it all, some focus mostly on a specific type of task to be performed. Besides Audacity and Mp3DirectCut (and a few rippers and converters), the tool I use most of all is Mp3Gain - I couldn't do without it. With over 60 Gb of music in this box it's essential that there's some sort of consistency to the volume levels.

In no particular order:

Audacity here....although I don't use it much these days.
And yes, have also used GarageBand before (on my son's Mac), and it's pretty cool.

Voted Audacity but also use "SpectroGram" ver. 5.0 which was the last free version for making sonograms. It can still be found...search for gram50.zip. |
