Is it OK to sign in as a shortwave listener?

I've been involved in radio since around 1978.
I've helped our local operators since that time.
I installed a 2 mtr repeater receiver at my work with a 220 Mhz link to the transmitter 3 miles away.
This was back in 1995 and I think the receive antenna was an IsoPole vertical.
The transmit antenna on 220 was a build that I constructed.
It was a simple yagi aimed at the main transmit site.
I don't remember what radis were used for the relay.
I do know the site used a old Kaypro machine for CW id.
I worked on it a bunch as the site owner was legally blind!

Today 28 years later, I'm still very much into radio.
I just never found the reason to need to talk.
So I'm very satisfied just listening.
I monitor almost everything.
I guess you could say from DC to Daylight!
I'm limited though as I'm in an apartment but they did let me put a discone up and I snuck a long wire in at the same time!
Plus I live on the top floor.
So monitoring is a pleasure.

Am I welcome here?

AFAIC, SWL's and others interested in Radio Communications would be welcomed.
Before I got involved with Amateur radio, I was into CB. Those were the days you had to be licensed, and I think I may still have a "KPJ6732" QSL around here somewhere.

Greeting all!
As some of you may know, we're requesting the creation of an Amateur Radio Forum.

»[request] Anyone Here Have An Interest In A Ham Radio Forum??

Since we don't really know how many Hams are out here, I thought it might be nice to have a sign-in post, and this is the only forum (for now, hopefully!) I could think of to put it in.

73, Jim KQ6EA
drjim, thanks for echoing my request from a few days back, of course my original request was a *sign* from the beginning, lets all keep spreading the word that this very well might actually become a BBR forum, and ask other Hams, Short Wave Listeners, Radio enthusiasts, and anyone else interested in learning more about, or actually joining the hobby to join the fight for our own forum here on BBR.

If you are already a ham, please tell a friend, pass along the word at your next net login, and keep the momentum going.

Thanks, 73, George/KA3SGM

Yep, I was also licensed for CB operation in the days! Boy, that brings back memories!
My memory is not good enough to remember my call however.
I'd bet I can find my license though!

I do remember buying a ssb cb radio base radio from radio shack many years ago. It was one of the first microprocessor controlled radios they sold.
It was a base model and very big in physical size.
I got it for $5 dollars as it was a return and non-functioning.
I remember hooking it up and shorting pins on the cpu in order to get it running.
I made contact with someone who claimed to be at the Isle of Crete.

That was the first and last time I ever talked to anyone on that radio!
I'd have to guess I was possibly using the 10 meter band but who knows as the radio was bad and never did work again.
