Zid.com @ 24 Mbs in Montreal and Toronto ? Anyone ?

Hello,
After Colba and Gosansfil, I saw on canadianisp.com that Zid.com was advertising 24 Mbs in Toronto and Montreal. Has anyone tried any of their service ?
Thanks

The offers at zid.com are really attractive, maybe too good to be true?

This sounds good...I was checking out their website.

Is it legit or is there something I should worry about?

I am willing to try, the only thing is the 25$ activation fee which I'm going to lose if I cancel after a month...

We do some transit with them....

There are multiple ISPs working together to do transit and various services... This happens to be one of those situations.

With them, or for them? Is TSI acting as a transit provider?

I'm very jaded about ISPs colocating their own DSLAMs ever since Colba. The one time I try an ISP offering service on colocated ADSL2+ DSLAMs, and they tend out to be bordering fraudulent in their quality of service (or lack therof).

I won't get into the issue, but Colba gave a 13mbit sync, gave 0.5ms actual throughput, and never answered their phones (wait on hold 20 minutes, redirect to voicemail, never get called back).

What is interesting about Zid is that they offer Annex M service (up to 3.5mbit upstream, although they stop at 3mbit). Of course, the 2wire doesn't support Annex M.

On the other hand, even their 24/3 service is unlimited. Do you really think they can provide unlimited service on a 27mbit aggregate service?

At that point, even without changing my usage patterns, my bandwidth usage would skyrocket just because of the 3mbit upstream (seeding)...

I predict one of three things happens:

1) They go bankrupt
2) They cap
3) Their quality of service goes down the tubes do to an overloaded network

There's no way they can offer 24/3 unlimited service for $45/mth for $44 or 24/1 unlimited for $34...

I'd be happy if they could manage 5mb. I'm getting a wopping 1.5 right now and the line still craps out every day or so. Not exactly looking forward to paying more for it come the new year either.

So did anybody sign up with these guys for ADSL2+ ? Are they a Colba.net reseller as well ?

For Montreal ADSL2+ is only available in a small area of downtown. Gosansfil told me that VDSL(50mbps) will be available on the south shore some time in 2008. I'll believe it when I see it.
