I'll bet you'll have to plan ahead, which is what I already do with my cable DVR when I want to record a movie/TV show, ect.... On-Demand is just that-I WANT IT NOW!!! I want to see some specifications-like how fat a pipe do you need to get the true on-demand service. Since I have on-demand thru Charter cable I'll guess around 6Mbs. On-Demand is nice, but the controls aren't like using a DVD(or a recorded dvr show)-as in WAY SLOW reaction times, ect. Otherwise, I love it. If DTV can pull this off..well.... |

 | I've been beta testing it for a few weeks now and it pretty much fires right up. It streams while it downloads to the hardrive not all unlike how u tube pulls it off. |

 | reply to stridr69 I've been using it on a 6Mbps connection. Not instant but I've been able to start watching a program after a minute of downloading and never hit the end of the buffer. Of course that was SD programing, there were a couple HD test items out there, for those you just about have to wait for the complete program to download before trying to watch. |

I still use my DVR to record movies as it works just fine, but on-demand is useful when I see something I want to watch. I've noticed that Charter is leaning to the on-demand service for pay-for-view as far as new movies goes. I can see why but I've always preferred to purchase a movie that I can record onto my DVR, since I don't have to worry about watching it within a 24 hour period. |
