I've been using it on a 6Mbps connection. Not instant but I've been able to start watching a program after a minute of downloading and never hit the end of the buffer. Of course that was SD programing, there were a couple HD test items out there, for those you just about have to wait for the complete program to download before trying to watch.

There's the problem-having to wait a minute. Seems trivial but VERY annoying IMHO. I still use my DVR to record movies as it works just fine, but on-demand is useful when I see something I want to watch. I've noticed that Charter is leaning to the on-demand service for pay-for-view as far as new movies goes. I can see why but I've always preferred to purchase a movie that I can record onto my DVR, since I don't have to worry about watching it within a 24 hour period.
