can i plug this into my laptop and get on the internet for free anywhere i want? better yet, i should ask: what are HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE and GPRS?

I don't see it anywhere that says everyone can get online for free, just that one can get online. Although it's NOT mentioned, presumably access other than Wi-fi is with an existing mobile carrier data account.
