TVerstiy

Was great when I tried it yesterday, not so good today as it can't be detected by my 360. I couldn't play any of the Mpeg2 files I record with my PVR bu tI did get a few AVIs here and there to work, the whole start of that project was to see if perhaps I could get something to play Elephant's Dream (1o8o avi version) for me as my system seemed too slow, now that I've installed the latest FFDshow however it seems to run mostly fine even while the system was busy. That didn't work because it doesn't like the open dml avi at all, netier does ATI's Avivo converter. I digress, my hole point to that was that TVersity is nice but has many bugs and even tough I'm only a novice with this program and not to PCs its still fustrating to not be able to get past step one.

My two cents as to which Microsoft should do and why they haven't done it is that they need to make a sort of media center lite that fraserves/transcodes to the 360 using buffering on either or booth systems. Maybe even a full media player on the 360 and allow it to access various types of shares.

As it is right now it has a wonderful capability to be a great media player as well (well they really do need an interface upgrade too its horrible for large collections)however I feel that they may have locked away features to start a revenue stream for the media market place and possibly home server. I can understand that from a business practice but I think it would be more benificial to get customers started sharing their own media and comfortable with it then show them all of what is avaliable out there.
