I have a slightly different situation. I am porting my signature number and keeping my main number. Do I need to notify Teleblend to stop charging for the signature number? |

Burris, All providers require you to call them and cancel the account once you port out. If you do not, they are not obligated to cancel the account for you. If you dont believe me go and look at the Terms of Voange, Packet8, ViaTalk just to name a few. It is very interesting to hear that all carrier required customer who ported out to call. With my limited experience, none of my old carrier did. |

The only carriers that will get notification of the port out are CLEC's as they actually own the number, and so they know when it is out of the revnue stream. Most VoIP providers only have the numbers pointed at their servers, and therefore they do not own the numbers.
Also, the rules spelled out by the NPAC and FCC state that you must keep your old service active, and then notify them that you are canceling your service once your port is active. All the major VoIP providers follow the same guidelines. This is easily confirmed by looking at Vonage, Packet8, viaTalk terms of porting.
