qworster posted : How is intercepting and forging Bit Torrent packets-causing my requested downloads to stop-any different from forging VOIP packets causing my phone calls to stop?

DATA IS DATA!!!!!!!

If I make a request to a tracker, and Comcast DELIBERATELY intercepts this PRIVATE communication and then FORGES my request to mean something else, how can this be okay?

Who made YOU the data judge?

By the way, the FCC did EXACTLY that! Their interpretation of the 1996 Communications Act (you know-the Act for the next 50 years it was touted as) has them claiming that ALL the competitive provisions the telcos agreed to (so they could enter the VERY lucrative long distance business) only applied to the copper plant in existance as of 1996!
Do you GET THIS? The Act for the next 50 years was OBSOLETE the day it went into effect! Even worse, the FCC then 'de-regulated' DSL, which essentially ELIMINATED all the telco requirements of the 1996 Act.

THOUSANDS of small ISP's ceased to exist as a result of the FCC decisions-essentially eliminating competition in DSL.
Even Covad-by FAR the biggest CLEC was forced into bankruptcy from the FCC decisions!
They still are in chapter 11 by the way-and there's no guarantee they will survive.
The FCC also came down on big Cable's side by declaring that cable internet is an information service as opposed to a cable service (how can a service that's delivered on cable TV lines not be a cable TV service?).
As such, it did not have to open up its lines to competitors.

But that's okay-because the FCC ruled the OPPOSITE regarding DSL. They ruled that DSL Internet is NOT a communications service. In other words, Internet delivered by telco lines is NOT a telephone service!

So, we have the Internet-but if it's delivered by cable lines it's not a cable service, and if it's delivered by telco lines it's not a communications service!

WHAT IS IT THEN?
