Not much competition there.  As for Verizon's statements, well, I know some ex-Enron employees and investors in securities backed by subprime mortgages who  might have a few wordsy about whether you bet the farm on a large corporation's promises.  Unfortunately, my friend, business is in business to make money - that's why it's called business.  And her's a Rule of Business:  if it's not clearly stated in a binding legal contract, forget about it.]]></description>

The sum total is that when the copper is gone, so will be the DSL alternatives.  Once the DSL alternatives are gone, there will be no reason for VZ to offer cheap fiber packages.
