 AVG update manager errors often

Every day or two the 'update manager' component of AVG goes grey. I can go into the control center and manually tell it to update and it updates fine. Then a day or two later it happens again. I have tried clearing the cache in the update manager settings but that makes no difference. This same symptom happens on multiple computers at my house. I have Verizon FIOS internet access in case that is related somehow.
It is becoming very annoying to have to manually do it all the time.

Thank you,
David

The joy of computers, it works on mine but not on yours.
Go figure.
I have AVG free on a second computer that just runs Seti.
Never a problem.
Use AVG Pro w/ firewall on my main and my son uses it on his laptop.
Nary a problem.
I've tried many programs that others swear by, but won't work on mine.
I wish I knew more to help you.

Thanks for the info but it did not work. I tried to unselect the update now setting and select it again but now 2 days later it still did the same thing. I am just about ready to change to a different anti-virus software I think.
