[ADSL] Help - 2-3Mbs yet pages hang forever

I will pledge my allegiance to anyone who can help me.

I am on talk talk broadband. I live in Northern Ireland. Speed tests I conduct tell me I am averaging a speed of between 2 -3 Mb

BUT when I am generally surfing - pages can take soooooo long to load and just hang. I have tried different browsers - no change.
Talk Talk customer support are non existent. Thinking of just changing provider. Had no problems with BT before hand except the price.
Can anyone help?

Mmmm, I'm thinking this could be your ISP's cache server that will have most of the regular web sites held and others that you'll be directed to the web for retrieval...
Is it always the same sites that are slow/fast?

It usually is altyhough you come across others all the time.

I'm trying to eliminate areas which might cause problem.

ie. Got rid of Norton and installed sophos. Ran a scan and found 2 virus / hack tools

SOrting out Java at the mo

Gonna try safe mode with connectivity to identify if its a piece of software thats slowing it down. After this Im gonna install a new wireless modem / router
