| reply to TheMG Greetings, all. New member, here. Obviously a lot of knowledge that I hope to benefit from. Unfortunately I won't be able to contribute to said knowledge because I'm as thick as a brick when it comes things techy.
But to my point ... About 2 years ago, I did sign a three contract in order to get a laptop for my daughter. I recently contacted Telus about switching to from my present "High Speed Enhanced" to "High Speed Extreme" and was told it would cost me $480.00 to cancel my existing plan. This seems odd, as typically when you upgrade to a better service, there's no charge as long as you commit to another long term contract.
Has anyone else experienced this?
All the best..

Do you really want to be stuck on a 3 year contract? Is the free PC really worth it? Questions you have to ask yourself.
Let me tell you right now that laptop is very low-end and even appears to be discontinued according to the Lenovo website:
Lenovo 3000 notebook (C200)
* Intel® Celeron® M Processor * Windows Vista Home Basic * 80 GB hard drive * 512 MB DDR2 memory
Not to mention that this "offer" also costs $5/month extra, or $9 per month for the notebook, if I understand the Telus website correctly (it is a bit unclear if the $9 adds to the extra $5 or not). So that's 9$/month for 3 years, whereas you can get one off ebay for $300-400. Doesn't sound like much of a deal anymore does it? |
