Currently Available States: NY/NJ/CT
Available States starting 11/19/07: DE, MD, PA, SC, NH, ME, TX, WA, OR, IN, CA, VA, MA, RI, FL

New speed offerings are available to meet the needs of customers who require more upstream bandwidth.

These Premium Speed Packages are in addition to existing FiOS Internet speed tiers.

Premium Speed Packages feature “symmetrical” bandwidths, meaning the customer’s UPLOAD speed is consistent with their DOWNLOAD speed.

PA, ME, DE, MD, NH, SC, TX, OR, IN, CA, VA and WA States - 15/15 for $64.99 monthly with 1/2 yr terms.
MA and RI States - 20/20 for $64.99 monthly with 1 yr term
I guess I should add FL also which will be 20/20 for $64.99 a month..

Remember this price is with a voice line also. Standalone is $5 more a month..

Is there any word on whether business customers can get these speeds? Will the cost differential be the same? E.g. I pay $100/mo for 15/2 now, which is $55/mo more than residential dynamic. Can I expect to pay $65+55, or $120/mo for this? Or is it not even available for business accounts?

Thanks!

I got a flyer in postal mail today hawking the 20/20 service.

It says there's $15 off for the first month if you're an existing 10/2 or 20/5 FIOS customer. You can't upgrade online and you need to call in.

It says the $64.99 rate is for FIOS Internet 1 or 2 year term customers with Verizon voice service. Then it says "Rate increases after term period." The wording is odd and one would imagine, unless they already anticipate a higher rate that it would say "Rate may increase after term period."

I live in PA and have the 5/2 package, does this mean that I will be upgraded to 15/15 automatically?

15/15 is a new tier with a new price. It's not an upgrade for an existing tier.

Who told you you'd get a free upgrade? I think if they went 20/5 you'd get a free upgrade which is what happened to me. But 15/15 isn't an "upgrade" of 15/2. It's a different tier.

Thanks. I guess I'll ask in another topic if anyone in the NY area has been able to order 20/20 for business.

I quizzed a phone rep about this, and was told the price DOES increase; specifically, it goes to the month-to-month rate. The way to avoid this is to sign up for another 1 or 2 year agreement.

Now we all know VZ is not bashful about price increases, so YMMV.

I'm waiting for the day they have everyone hooked on super-fast uploads that cable cannot match. Then they'll start taking some fat price increases, knowing that people will complain but won't switch to cable because they're hooked on the speed that only FIOS can deliver.

Seriously, I'm betting that VZ will become the neighborhood crack dealer, in a manner of speaking. Get you "hooked bad", then jack up the price.

More discrimination between states, typical Verizon Bull$hit.

Let the Lemming's jump of the cliff for 15/15 for the same price the chosen ones get 20/20 for.

I think I'll wait for that free 20/5 upgrade that everyone has already been promised to have before the end of the year.

The VZ website for me is still showing only 20/20 down for symmetrical, and $69.95/month. (I'm in NY)

If I'm already in a contract and upgrade to this, will it extend my contract further? I will only be living in this house until the end of May when I graduate so I don't want my contract to be extended.

Change in that NY's 20/20 will go down by $5?

That would sell me on the 20/20.

Now I just wish I understood that if I entered a 2 year contract - if there are speed upgrades during that time (and the 20/20 goes away, if I get the bump to the new speed or not)

I plan to order in the next day or two.

If you move to an area where FIOS isn't then you can get out of the contract or if you move to an area that has it then you can get it there... I wouldn't really worry about it when moving..
