here is an update on my situation,

i called tech support again. As i said in previous posts..upgraded on online. Never got faster speeds. Called..they said its all set. Next day...phone and internet are dead. No IP ...no dial tone... called in...they said it was not becuase of the upgrade it was an outage... i tried to argue the point but the tech support rep "nathan" said it was an outage and he would have a network tech look at it but it would be up in 4 hours...6 hours go by...zip...I call again..Rep tells me yes it is becuase of the upgrade... was able to restore dial tone but could not get faster speed... as of now i still don't have it 48 hours later...

You wouldn't happen to be in VA would you? I ordered my upgrade on the phone and it has also been 48 hours now, still not upgraded.

Update: I now have to re-place my order for some unknown reason (probably some tech marked the ticket complete when he absolutely did nothing). Trying to re-place my order the rep is saying their order system is down and that it has been referred to engineering. She said it would take a few days and because of the holiday I would have to wait until Tuesday to hear from them. WTF? 1+ week for a speed upgrade?

update on me...

verizon called me last night. I was not home. They said on there end its fine.

On mine... i am still getting 20/5...not 20/20.

unsure why. I have changed routers...changed pc's all mtu settings are right...just so on my end i cover everything...changed ethernet cables...restarted router..releases reneewed ip address...

looks like i am calling verizon again tomorrow.

Sorry to interrupt but,
fiosguy1, or anyone else working for Verizon or VZ PA fBA, do you know if the symmetric FiOS at 15Mbps is covered with the FiOS Double Freedom, and if so 2 things:
1) What exactly is the discount?
2) How is it applied when ordering online through the back-door qualification method, NOT through the »www.verizon.net/fios qualification tool.
3) When ordering should we select one of the contracts, or a month to month plan, when already on a Double Freedom bundle?

Thanks in advance, because it's a little annoying trying to find out since we currently don't have FiOS Internet, and when I check the National Freedom Bundles site it only spits back DSLow at 3Mbps, which we already have. Also, that Double Freedom bundle went through perfectly, we just downloaded our November Bill. So I assume we can simply add the FiOS speed tier we want ang go from there.

Well, the website finally says I can order 50/20 service! For only $95/month.

Now that is currently $35/month more then what Im paying for 20/20.... and honestly, there is NO need for 50MBits down.

There aren't too many places that will send to you at anywhere near that download speed. If they would have made it 50/30 or 50/40 I would have jumped on it. But I will stay very happy with my 20/20.

Are you sure about the nonbundling? When I talked to the person on the billing end I was told it would be $15 a month more than my current cost. I have the 15/2 for $49.99 currently but I have the bundle that gives me a discount for each product.

Since she said $15 more and not like $20 more, I am assuming I'm still getting the bundle discount?

That is of course assuming they ever figure out on their end how to make changes in my service. I was told they had to create a "trouble" ticket just to get all my services on the same bill although when the lady checked it showed that I had all 3 services with the monthly discounts. I was told once they managed this, I would receive a callback to upgrade me to the 15/15 service.

Sounded very odd to me, my account shows all 3 but she can't find the individual internet part of it.

If I don't hear back today I'll be calling again, maybe a different person will have a different result.

OK the more i see the pricing the angrier I am getting. Its now showing 30/15 for 140$. Thats nearly 3x what i am paying now for 30/5 (55$).

The online option to upgrade at 89$ a month is already gone. hell that wasnt even a week. That also only applies apparently to new customers only. My options are severely limited as an existing customer.

I had better be grandfathered in when my contract expires in May of next year or I will be very very unhappy.

where on verizons site can you upgrade your data plan/speed.

currently 15/2 in the Phila. PA area which has higher speeds now avail for a couple weeks but can't find where to upgrade.

I need faster upload then 2 and wouldn't mind faster down then 15 but i think its going to be choice between 20/5 or 15/15 if i can ever find where to do it on the site.

beats calling them up though if i can do it on the site.

Much easier to call. Takes 2 minutes.

If not, you need to log into your account on VZ.com

Then, go to your Internet package, and there will be a link to "Upgrade Plan".

Then, choose the upgrade package you want - go through all the screens - get an order ticket number, etc.

yeah well i'm on hold for 15 minutes so far so not much easier, but the website doesn't work, everytime i try to sign in with my email name and pass or our phone # and 3 digit customer code it doesn't work. so basically either way you try is like pulling teeth.

not to mention the high probabability of your service going down for as long as 48hrs when you try to upgrade which sounds like a nightmare.

tried online live customer help to no avail also. Comcast has 24hr support and you get right through. verizon isn't open most of the time and when they are your on hold for hours just for them to probably screw up anyway.

i thought i did but maybe not. finally got through over the phone and 20/5 is not available in PA.

just 15/2 which we have or 15/15 for $15/mo then what we are paying now so not worth it just for faster upload even though I do some uploading and its painfully slow, its uploading by choice not a neccesity so i prob just wont do it. rather have 20/5.

i'd take the 15/15 for faster up if it was same price or slightly more but not for $15/mo. asked for a deal or discount being that 20 down is not available yet in our area and rep said were already getting double discounts or someting and she woudln't be able to do anything. I wouldn't want to mess up whatever deal we currently are locked in with just to get faster up.

next choice is 30 down and i guess 5 up for an exhorbitant cost. its double the down speed but more then double the price. Its more for businesses.

oh well. she said 20 down should be coming eventually to PA. i guess thats the whole state gets at same time? wouldn't the Philadelphia areas be a priority on their list for PA and nationwide being the 5th largest city?

she acts like its by the state but it seems to be by the neighborhood as i know developments down the street that dont have fios at all. guess were lucky to have fios at all even if the only thing worthwhile is the internet service as their tv service sucks.

I just contacted Verizon and upgraded from 15/2 to 15/15. I've been waiting for a speed upgrade in Texas for over a year now. I stopped checking for it months ago but stumbled across this post.

Thanks guys. I also got them to pro-rate the month free and 6 months @ $10 off since I couldnt sign up online and the promo was only intended for new customers

The new upload speed came just in time for my new sling box

I suppose the next step is calling FiOS customer support. Ugh.

Same happened to me. After 1.5 hours on the phone with Verizon, I gave up. Then I noticed at speedtest.verizon.com after I ran the test at the bottom there was a "Fios Optimizer" link. I installed it, it did it's thing, I rebooted and bam...I'm at 15/15...Wish I wouldn't have sat on the phone with VZ...LOL

That's peculiar.

In Schenectady, NY the 20/20 price is $25 more per month. I am not surprised there is variation but that's a heck of a lot of variation.
