They're charging me more than my neighbor because my state is less competitive. What do you call it? There is a special forum for you. Go post there. I'm sure you'll get tons of sympathy from the people who have Cable, DSL or Dial-up. deblin, sorry, I don't buy the special forum claim crap you are trying to justify, this is not a rant and rave, I think this is dead on topic and glaringly obvious, one press release that details the same pricing, one speed tier for the less desirables, one tier for Verizon's chosen ones. -- "Lithium is no longer available on credit" |

| reply to Raven313 Think of it this way: do you not think the state government would throw a shit fit if Verizon started charging suburban northern DE less than country folk in rural southern DE? Of course they would and that's why the price is uniform statewide. Why is the issue any different when the difference is state lines? |

| Even though I'm one of the people who complains the most about the uneven price structure, I'd like to point out that if you had listened in your high school civics class you would understand the difference between the state and federal government. If you had, you would know the reason why I state has the right to enforce an even pricing scheme, and yet the federal government doesn't.
Maybe if James Madison had been just a bit more persuasive, we might be able to force ISPs to give even rates across the country. |

| reply to Yuuichi You all seem to be assuming I want to force Verizon to charge a certain price. I don't. I'm just stating my opinion of the unfair nature of Verizon's state by state pricing scheme given that where I live is just as densely populated as many places in NJ. |

2 edits | reply to DoRight so does ct has 15/15 or 20/20 or both? in anyway i would F with either one. With speeds like that i would be all set for the rest of the life...
p.s. If really only Greenwich in CT has it... then its so messed up.... I would have to stick with my 15/2 cox for ever. I heard they increasing upstream to 4 Mbps only in 2010... |

said by KenAF Many customers in VA already have 30/5 for $55/mo so for them this may not be the greatest deal. You pay $10/mo more for half the downstream and 3x the upstream.
Just be aware that you won't see that full 15Mbps upstream outside of your region. When transferring files across the country (east coast to west), you'll rarely see more than 5Mbps.
Um... wrong! Sure with some default OS settings you won't see awesome speeds across the country but with some tweaking you can definitely get good speeds from outside of the country or across th ecountry.
Here is from California -> New York.

| reply to DoRight Come to think of it, I wonder if the 30/5 and 50/5 packages will remain. At around $100 more its not much of a deal anymore considering the upload is nothing compared to 15 or 20 for much cheaper. Perhaps speed tiers of 30/30 and 50/50 are in our future as well? |

15 $ increase for 15 more Megabits of upload.
Worth it to me. |
