U-Verse will be live in 95% of Eagle Harbor (South of Orange Park/Jacksonville, Clay County, FL) starting Monday, August 25th <br><br>Over the past month they have installed 2 VRAD's, one at each end of the neighborhood, but some loops might be two long, so they have street specific equipment to install to make up that 5%<br><br>He said that only 6 Mbps is working but that should soon change to 10. Also he was unsure if the sales would accept orders, but he gave me his manager's email -- so if you are interested PM me for the address.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/135352"><b>drhea</b></A> : Hi Zoder,<br><br>The TV usage has no effect that I can detect (including recording on the DVR)... as I understand it, they dedicate 10 mbps for Internet, 10-13 mbps for HD and 2 mbps for non HD TV. upload is dedicate the same way with 1.5 mbps dedicated to internet. The total is about 26 mbps.<br><br>I haven't explored the gateway much (not yet anyway... :) ).<br><br>Speed tests have varied from system to system (I have 3 Windows XP-Pro systems, my wife has 1 OS-X Mac)... my 3 Mhz dual core does around 6 MBPS, my older 2.4 Mhz single core does about 3.5 mbps, my wireless 1.7 Mhz dual core laptop, about 2.8 mbps and the dual CPU 1.25 Mhz Mac running OS-X (latest release) about 1 to 1.2 mbps. I suspect that's because my local, long distance and wireless service is already through AT&T. <br><br>As I understand it, they are working neighborhood to neighborhood in Coral Springs and will be covering the whole city in the next few weeks. They are also working Miami, but I don't know which areas.<br><br>My source thinks Margate will follow after they finish with Coral Springs.<br><br>"Delay time in changing the channel"... do you mean in the TV boxes? (which run WindowsCE 5.something) If so, they are very fast... much faster than my old DirecTV boxes. If you mean the switch from FastAccess 6 mbps DSL to U-verse? It took the better part of an afternoon (Saturday) and about 5 hours of tweaking and troubleshooting today (Sunday). The VDSL adapter only exists in the local terminal where the fiber stops and the copper starts, not the house.<br><br>My beef was that the sales people were touting it and "fiber optic service" and had actually told me that U-vers was fiber to the house. Sales reps.... grrr. <br><br>These same sales reps are the ones that claimed the 2wire gateway supported Wireless-N (it's Wireless-G)... I'll have to set up a subnet on my Wireless-N router to get my wireless range and speed back to normal.<br><br>In general, they (tech support) were able to reconfigure and reset my modem/router (what they are calling the "gateway") to 10 mbps and I'm seeing speeds now in the 6 mbps area on my XP systems. <br><br>My wife's OS-X system is still stuck at about 1 to 1.2 mbps down and 1.5 mbps up (they are still baffled but I'll be speaking with one of their Mac people tomorrow).<br><br>I will say this, their support, knowledge and response speed has been incredible when you compare it to my bellsouth.net support. The bad news is that I didn't get the 10 megabit bandwdith I was promised... it can barely achieve 2.5 megabit down and .8 up. This is much slower than the 6 megabit DSL it replaced.<br><br>I'll be demanding they either do 9.5 megabit or better, or put my DSL service back in.<br><br>Good news, the cable modem/router is 8 port wireless-N (2WIRE 3800HGC-8).<br><br>More bad news... no fiber to the house... it's running on the same 27 year old copper my DSL used.<br><br>For the other person in Coral Springs, I'm in the ShadowWood development. Personaly I would hold off until I can find out why my service is so slow.<br><br>By the way, the video part of the service is excellent and the DVR is impressive and responsive (I was able to run 4 recordings at once with no quality problems). <br><small>--<br>Dan Rhea - Windows programmer</small>]]></description>

He said U-Verse would be ready around November and that they've been doing fiber work for it all around my community (Wedgefield) By 2009 majority of Orlando will be U-Verse enabled apparently. <br>Idk how much of this is credible, but this tech knew a lot about U-Verse already(he gave me a whole spiel on it!) and said he knew workers that were installing it in South Florida. This is a pretty good sign if you ask me!]]></description>

It would have been done in about three hours except that the RG kept losing signal whenever someone picked up a phone. I have local and long distance POTS with AT&T, but it hasn't worked for a few weeks since a lightning strike (strangely enough the DSL still works fine). I mostly only use my cell phone anyway--the only reason I had it was (I assumed) I needed it to get DSL.<br><br>Somehow I feel like something will go wrong, but we'll see... I had no major complaints with Comcast, other than them being somewhat slow to advance their technology and set-top software, and the prices rising so quickly since they took over Adelphia.]]></description>

Maybe that's where a V-RAD is going? Also closer to my house, there's orange paint marks and a white and orange striped flag that says AT&T dig Alert. And theres 2 white lines a foot or 2  apart from each other in the grass where it meets the orange paint.<br><br>Woud they put a V-RAD in front of a cable amp? The white paint box is in front of one. But there's plenty of space so that's not necessary.]]></description>

However, while the FCC can help with the antennae restrictions, the associations can make it difficult in other ways. Like not letting any wires be seen from the outsode with the exception of the designated areas where telephone NIDS and  incoming cable must place there equipment or even not letting the home owner drill any exterior wall in order to get the cable from said antennae into the living area.<br><br>So there are many ways for the association to still shut down the satellite and wireless options.]]></description>

I've been irked paying for 6.0 but getting 4.3 for a couple years.  Now getting 6.4.  Also noticed I lose connectivity w/ each phone call received after loop shrunk, so called today to drop POTS.<br><br>Eager for Uverse and the 10.0(fingers crossed) in '08.  Can't wait to drop Dish.]]></description>

VRADs already have power.<br><br>Only thing holding up UVERSE is ATT, not equipment.<br><br>No excuses to wait till next summer or later. ]]></description>

The only catch is you HAVE TO take the Digital Cable with it. I have DTV already and don't have any use for Cable TV. Bring on the 24mbps!!!]]></description>

I saw the subscriber stats somewhere and it didn't look that impressive (about 160K users) for a company of AT&T's size.<br><br>As for new developments most have gone on hold, at least around here. The place we were told getting it is a new development called Rivertown, it is rumored it will be FTTP, and Rivertown has not even broken ground yet....so.... who knows.<br><br>And no, we have had no training on U-Verse, we were told that premise techs would be doing the installs and we might be doing some of the troubleshooting/repairs.]]></description>

I think Orlando and most of the Florida panhandle is going online before that.  <br><br>I soon as Jacksonville goes online, Brunswick and Waycross Georgia is going online with it also.  Since we are the only ones in southeast Georgia that is in the Jacksonville viewing area.  We already have about 60 sites that VRADS are going in in Waycross.  I can't wait, I hope they have the bugs worked out before it gets here.]]></description>
