I wonder how the built in defrag would compare to other well respected vendors such as Raxco or Executive Software? Hopefully better than the built in defrag in Windows. Then again anything is better than the built in defrag. -- »/forum/wall |

Thanks for the update gate1975mlm well since T.U. didn't bother to give presant cutomers (or previous owners) ""hardly a discount""" at all on the 2007 version, AND AGAIN FOR 2008, NOT A LOT OF DISCOUNT I'am still using the and its working good for me, so unless at previous stated, a bigger discount, [b]I'll try, but NOT BUY 21:26 jazzy -- Those that ONLY see the worst in this world & the worst in people, WILL N E V E R see the beauty of this world,& never find TRUE FRIENDS,or happiness.

| reply to gate1975mlm I just got an email to buy TuneUp Utilities 2007 for $15.99
A new version is about to be released, so we are offering our newsletter subscribers a one-time chance to purchase TuneUp Utilities 2007 at a rock-bottom price.
The complete package for Windows optimization including automatic 1-click maintenance for only $15.99 - you'll never see a lower price!
It also said if I buy TU 2007 I would get a discount on an upgrade for TuneUp 2008 version. Anybody know how much they charge to upgrade? |

| reply to gate1975mlm I will probably upgrade to the new TU 2008......I always do!
I actually have high hopes for their de-frag utility. If it is even close to the quality of some of the other tools in the TU lineup, I will be happy.
I also hope they fixed a few of the quirks that showed up in Vista with TU 2007. |

| reply to gate1975mlm I still use TU 2006 never upgraded to 2007 and i wont be upgrading to 2008 either. TU 2006 does the job i need it to do and i see no reason for me to upgrade to TU 2007 or TU 2008. I also got the email for TU 2007 discount ($12.49) yesterday.

Enhancements to the registry cleaner alone is reason enough to upgrade. |

1 edit | reply to gate1975mlm I don't mind paying for an application but then every year they want you to buy their new one... I could see a $10 upgrade and maybe every three/four years you have to buy a new one if you want...But every year, that's bull besides we're there best advertisers...

| reply to gate1975mlm Re: [Update] TuneUp Utilities 2008
I also received the update notice, having had Tune Up Utilities for the past 4 years. Currently undecided.
I don't mind paying for good software. I am just questioning if it is still as good as it once was. That is, when I bought it originally, it was top of the class of that type of products. Now, I am not so sure.
One issue I have had with TuneUp is that for some reason unknown, it seems to have affected my folder view options. It always starts out in an Icon view. I have to change it daily back to a list format (my preference). Since my PC is relatively clean, I highly suspect TuneUp is the cause of this. Sure would like to get this fixed.
I prefer a very stable product, good functionality, and no harm to my computer for a system maintenance tool. I also use CCleaner regularly, since it was mentioned in the thread.
If there are better options, without getting into a Ford/Chevy/Dodge/Honda type discussion, I would buy it.
I also intend to build a new quad core this spring, and will be transferring existing software to it. Not sure if that makes a difference, but it may. |

| reply to gate1975mlm I love TU and I will probably get 2008 but I always wait to see others get it first and see if it is better or if there are any bugs. Unfortunately with this deal they want you to buy it before it comes out. That I don't do. So I guess I get no deal because I always wait until after software comes out and others approve it before I buy. |
