He replied to an email that he thought was from Yahoo which asked for information including his password (oops) so now some nutcase in Nigeria has his email account. I helped him get to the appropriate Yahoo site to notify them that his account is hijacked, so hopefully things will get straightened out soon... and now he knows what phishing is all about. If he can get in the first thing he should do is change the password, this way it'll prevent others from accessing his account.
Sorry to hear this has happened to him, but if all they have is his e-mail account he should count his blessings. Imagine the damage they could do if they get his SSN or Bank Account number. |
