| [CA] Super slow download speeds...anyone else?
Hey guys, I was out of town for a long while, but since I've been back (for the past week or so), I've noticed that the speed of my Cox HSI has been rather slow lately and during almost all hours of the day. I live south of El Cajon, CA (east of San Diego) and I'm signed up for the preferred 7/512 service. Before I left I remember the d/l speeds being relatively fast, at least 6 megabit or so. Since I've been back, I'm getting around 700-900kbit download speeds, which is far slower than advertised to say the least. Weird thing is, latencies still seem to be fine and pages do still load fast. I called up just now and confirmed that I'm still on Preferred service. Anyone else in San Diego area having issues with their speeds? Do you think it may deal with the recent wildfires? If not, any tips on how to resolve this? The tech on the phone wasn't too informative and didn't seem to think there was much of a problem although I insisted that this speed is pretty damn slow...he was suggesting I should wait it out. I don't know if that will help much... Thanks in advance, guys! |

| Register and send level 2 support your modem's mac address. You can not talk to people privately unless you register.
Also, what are your modem levels and what modem are you using?

1 edit | reply to SamInRSD Well I had your modem before i upgraded to 5120.
I had problems with connectivity but never with speed.
But at the time I think I had 4 Mbit connection.
The modem would start flashing and I lost connection several times a day. I don't remember if I was told to buy another modem(cox tech sup) or I suggested it myself.
But after the purchase, no more problems.
I did pay around 140 for my pcx1100U and around 70 for 5120. |
