ViaTalk's BBB record now "unsatisfactory"

i've filed one complaint with them, and have not heard back yet (been 2 weeks). i've also sent in over 2 dozen emails concerning the issue, none of which have been replied to.

So if I read correctly you filed a complaint with the BBB and sent numerous emails to the BBB with no response?
If that is correct I would be looking to find someone to complain to about the BBB and sue the BBB.

no, i filed a complaint against VT w/ the BBB, and haven't gotten a response to the complaint. Prior to that, I had sent about 2 dozen emails directly to the person in ViaTalk who is supposed to handle the particular department I have a complaint with. The BBB has been very forthcoming in my "any updates?" emails I've sent. Unfortunately, the answer has thus far been "no".

Wow. ViaTalk has had 163 complaints filed against them since the BBB opened a file on them in August 2005. 138 of those 163 complaints were filed in the past 12 months. That means complaints against them increased about 5 1/2 times from one year to the next. Less than half of all the complaints are marked as "Resolved."

But quite a few are marked "Company made every reasonable effort to resolve". Which to me means Viatalk made a satisfactory offer according to the BBB and customer can not be made happy by reasonable offer.

At least two pieces of information would be required before drawing any conclusion. First, how much did the total account base grow in the time frame of that 5-1/2 time factor? Second, how big is the total account base upon which to measure the 138 recent complaints. For example, if VT has 1,000 total customers, those 138 complaints represents 13.8% of customers. If VT has 20,000 customers, those 138 complaints represents .7% of customers.

It took less than a month for me to get a reply from the BBB from the complaint I filed against ViaTalk. They at least were able to get a response from VT, I couldn't.

You should hear from the BBB soon.

it's an affiliate issue. I've got several thousand dollars in earnings, which they haven't paid out in over 3 months. according to their signup, you get payment (on the 15th of the month) anytime your balance is over $100.

i asked the BBB rep what happens if they don't respond in 30 days. she said they will be delisted from the BBB and I can take them to court (since it is technically a breach of contract issue).

To be fair, the BBB has a fairly harsh definition of Unsatisfactory:

"Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record with the BBB due to unanswered complaint(s)."

If my math is correct, there are two unanswered complaints out of 163. That's approximately 1.225% of the complaints that went unanswered. EVEN IF we throw out the previous complaints and only go with the last 12 months, 2 out of 138 is still only 1.449% of their complaints that went completely unanswered.

i think all they need is one unanswered complaint. here is what i was told by the BBB if they don't respond within 30 days:
"They are a member of the BBB and they do have to respond. The worst We can do if they do not respond is expel them from the BBB. Then you could file in Court."

VT still gives you a dialtone, SR doesn't. So I would not consider them in that list just yet.

I seem to be lost in this entire shuffle..
My VT works just fine, so at the moment and since July 16 when I came aboard, it hasn't missed yet.

I've lived in South Florida for over 50 years and had a few businesses during that time.
The BBB is probably the worst avenue for pursuing an issue with a merchant. Remember, the merchant pays to belong and the employees are somewhat in the volunteer area. A number of years ago, even the BBB in Miami went out of business and we had no idea about whom to complain to.

For me, I'm only interested in talking and listening on my phone, but I guess others have other issues that need resolving.
It does seem strange, however, that VT lets these issues linger and doesn't offer any response on the very forum where these allegations are posted.

as I stated above, my issue is not with the service they provide. it's an affiliate issue.

My chain of logic is this:
1. Try to resolve it w/ the company.
2. File BBB complaint
3. Send executive email carpet bomb (read the consumerist for this)
4. Take to court

Thus far, I've done #1. I've pseudo-done #3 as well (directly emailed the director of the affiliate program). It's wait-and-see now....

You know SR is still up there because a lot of people haven't update their reviews. If people changed their reviews it would drop in the gbu.

Shouldn't Sunrocket just be removed from the list. Why bother making people update the reviews. Everyone would say out of business. Maybe not so nicely but thats basically what would be said. Just delete them out. They are gone. Goodbye.

That would work too, my point was everyone keeps bring up ViaTalk is below SR, who is out of business. Well if you look at the SR reviews most of them haven't been updated, so it is unfair to try to compare anything to them.
