Re: Just get your ticket? Let us know here! Totally amazes me they are now up to KK4 while other areas are just now issuing kc calls. I got mine in 1986 so the south is busy.

Check out »www.ae7q.com/stat/LicenseUSA.php for tracking of sequentially assigned calls. I don't know if there's a difference in a FCC assigned tech or general call. I think they might come from the same pool.
There's no difference in a vanity call between a tech and general. Both are eligible for 1x3 calls. Extras are eligible for 1x2/2x1 calls. -- Tweaked your connection? | Mail Parse | Speed Converter |

Actually, the new question pool takes effect JULY 1, not June 1. Took the extra as well... BOMBED IT!!
I just joined the ARRL for a year, and I got a free copy of the Extra Q&A book. Going to read up on that and see if I can get my extra by the end of the summer.... -- "F is for Fire that burns down the whole town... U is for Uranium...... Bombs... N is for NO SURVIVORS!!!!!" Sheldon Plankton

Took the extra as well... BOMBED IT!! Congrats on passing. The biggest change is between Tech & General.
Extra is definitely one you need to study hard for. You can't skate by on that one. In my couple years of VE testing, I haven't seen anyone who even attempted to take it without studying pass it and I've seen a bunch that did study and didn't pass it. Much less so on the tech & general tests where it's less intense and if you've familiarized yourself with the material you have a shot. -- Tweaked your connection? | Mail Parse | Speed Converter |

Radios: FT-60R, FT-2900R
Antenna: Dual band open stub Jpole on a 21' mast connected to a MX-72H Duplexer via 50' of LMR-400.
Currently studying for the General exam. Going to take that in April. Maybe take the Extra at the same time just because I'll already be there and I might get lucky. |

 | reply to KeysCapt KD8SEP Got my call March-ish and been studying for general since July. I'm monitoring various internet connected repeaters in my area. I'm home pretty much all day now, so just call out on one of the repeaters. I also have an allstarlink account, so I have phone capability to more so... I'll be looking forward to hearing from ya! |

There is a special 4-letter callsign you can get (not the vanity sign) from the "next available Extra callsign list" ?
Can anyone tell me where to apply for this? Thanks |

NCVEC Form 605 has a box to check when you pass Element 4 to request a sequentially issued Extra call. »www.ncvec.org/ncvec605.pdf
If you missed it there, upgrade through the ULS. »wireless.fcc.gov/index.htm?job=online_filing
FWIW you can't mail NCVEC 605 directly to the FCC. If you do it through the ULS it should only take a day or so. |
