Took the Technician test on 2/4/12. License granted on 2/9/12. Call sign is KF5OIO, I monitor 146.520 in far NorthEast Oklahoma County and am active on the EARS repeater in Edmond, OK at 147.135+ PL100.

Radios: FT-60R, FT-2900R

Antenna: Dual band open stub Jpole on a 21' mast connected to a MX-72H Duplexer via 50' of LMR-400.

Currently studying for the General exam. Going to take that in April. Maybe take the Extra at the same time just because I'll already be there and I might get lucky.

Got my call March-ish and been studying for general since July.
I'm monitoring various internet connected repeaters in my area. I'm home pretty much all day now, so just call out on one of the repeaters. I also have an allstarlink account, so I have phone capability to more so... I'll be looking forward to hearing from ya!

Just passed Extra yesterday with the VEs at the Georgia Tech group.

There is a special 4-letter callsign you can get (not the vanity sign) from the "next available Extra callsign list" ?

Can anyone tell me where to apply for this? Thanks

NCVEC Form 605 has a box to check when you pass Element 4 to request a sequentially issued Extra call.

If you missed it there, upgrade through the ULS.

FWIW you can't mail NCVEC 605 directly to the FCC. If you do it through the ULS it should only take a day or so.

I actually got my ticket (technician class) about a year and a half ago, but only got my HT two days ago, after using EchoLink for a bit. Also, having been a member here for 10 years, I had no idea that this site had a ham forum until I found it through Google while searching for some info.

Good things sometime just take some time. Glad to have you on-board.

I am newly licensed as of this evening. Passed my technician exam. I'll post my callsign whenever it shows up.

For a radio, I got a BaoFeng UV-5R a couple of months ago.
