Did the push for returning equipment to Verizon wireless stores happen in PA? That's another gotcha I've been contemplating with Verizon. Once I add up the increase in DVR and the required boxes, it's more expensive than Comcast. I was dying for the TV service, but not as much now.

I called Comcast and they locked me in at $47 for Digital Cable (w/HD) for a year.

FIOS TV has been available for about 3 months in area. I have FIOS Internet service and am happy with it. I was able to combine my phone and TV service (despite being at separate "addresses" due to my Internet service having static IP addresses) and get a $14.99/month discount with a "Double Play" contract as well as locking in my current prices through most of 2009.

But will self-install be expanded to include cable cards? If the damage is $80 for someone to come out and stick in cable cards (hopefully a single M-card) into the TivoHD, that is way too steep. The self-install should be expanded to include cable cards as well. As far as the fact that an increase occured twice this year, it really only pertains to new customers, so it's a non issue to me. Also, I think it is to be expected considering that this is still a new service and they are probably fine tuning their business model. The equipment increases are probably related to the service calls IMO.

In this thread it says you can get the triple play extended 2 years. I don't see that in the letter posted, has anyone tried to extend the TP if you already getting it?

I don't know about Comcast, but for Cablevision, if the issue is inside your home, they can charge you a service call fee which I think is less then $50. If it has anything with issues outside, and often inside, they wave the fee.

To me, as some others posted, Verizon needs to push back on providers that are charging more for the content, yet continue to keep adding the channels everyone complains they aren't adding fast enough.

They are going to raise the rental rate on my used STB to the new rate and I don't get an option to buy it somewhere else. I'm pretty sure that I've probably covered the cost for them with the rent I've already paid.

In that respect they are equal to the cable companies.
