Verizon are you going to offer FiOS to us here in the Miami area?? If not, I really don't give a rats A$$!!
Seriously. Why would they have fiber down here if they don't offer service here?

A backbone is a lot different than FTTH.

Are you kidding? Broadband is only a small piece of the pie, and not necessarily the most profitable one either.

Verizon Business = MCI Business. Think larger than broadband. Much larger. Your $59/mo. is chicken s**t money in the larger picture.

Think voice circuits. Think OC-3, OC-12, OC-48, OC-192, OC-768. Think Metro Ethernet. Who would want such things? Think circuits for which datacenters pay $100,000-300,000 per month. Think insurance and financial company headquarters with Fast-E, Gig-E, and 10Gig-E links for internet transit and point-to-point around the globe.

It's funny how people equate internetworking (and the internet in general) as only used for bringing YouTube to the household.

If that were the case, then why even mention FiOS IPTV??? Why not just claim it as tests for backbone connectivity???

I guess they just sent Fios TV as something to test with. You are right though, it gives the impression that if they were testing Fios TV it would be because they either offer the service here or are planning to.

Why not? Shoving FiOS TV down the pipe is an excellent way of testing the circuit. The best type of file to use during a bandwidth test is one that is already compressed, and FiOS TV fits the bill. It's no different than when the speed testing tools here on DSLR measure your bandwidth by seeing how much of an MP3 file you can download and upload within a certain amount of time....

if you were the biggest, baddest monkey in the jungle, wouldn't you thump your fists on your chest?
it's a accomplishment for them and they want to advertise at the same time(FIOS TV), and they did it on the outside edge of their territory(again big monkey theory) , there's a lot in that statement (inside industry statement that is )
