| Disconnections Everynight For 5 Months well im going to try and be as clear as possible with this problem that i have been having for about 5 months now.
this problem first started when i was using the westell 6100 modem. it would start disconnecting about every 5 to 10 minutes around 7:30pm/8:00pm and lasts until 7:30am.
the techs told me it was a problem with the modem and wires. they sent the westell 327W modem and i replaced all the wires in the house and hooked up the new modem. now the problem starts at 5:30pm and lasts until 9:30am. this seriously happens everynight and the techs are really not offering me anymore help. i have seriously tried just about every tweak and read every post on other websites with new help.
i have included some notes about my pc and the dsl log so maybe someone can please help me out here.
all phone jacks have brand new filters. PC - DELL 2300 OS - XP Home SP2 Modem - Westell 327W

| Re: Disconnections Everynight For 5 Months When they replaced the in house wiring did they:
install a new NID on the exterior of the house? check your pair from the NID to the DSLAM?
If the answer is no to either of the above, then you likely have an old NID that's throwing a lot of noise into the line or bad splices between you and the DSLAM injecting noise.
Could you post your transciever stats and distance to the DSLAM from your home?

| Re: Disconnections Everynight For 5 Months You have a new NID but still using in house filters?
They didn't put in a whole house filter/splitter style NID?
They actually sent a field tech out and analyzed the cable pair from your house to the DSLAM?
If so, then jwko's reply is the only recourse you have. Wait it out.
For me, the PADT disconnects went away with the NID upgrade and cable pair clean up.
good luck... | |

| After reading your post I did a search on your problem, It seems alot of people are having the same issues especially with verizon and some with centurytel. Almost all post stated the same exact issues that you are having and almost all have put up with it for several months. All post that I found that were finally resolved was due to a issue on the service provider's end not the users end. | |

since i have been dealing with them for 5 months now and all they do is send new equipment.

1 edit | i tried that earlier today. called centurytel tech and discussed the problems with them. they should be sending a new tech out in the morning sometime, to check the problems with the dsl and the phone line.
Transceiver Revision: 5.2.2.0 Vendor ID Code: 4 Line Mode: G.DMT Mode Data Path: Fast Transceiver Information Downstream Path Upstream Path DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 1408 320 Margin (dB) 10.5 21.0 Line Attenuation (dB) 54.5 30.0 Transmit Power (dBm) 16.6 11.7
my speeds are actually much higher during the day, but start dropping at night and doing the disconnects.

| Since you are stating it gets worse at night, you may want to try and figure out something near that is only operating at the times described. Do you have a dusk to dawn light close? See if the problem begins when it turns on. You may have something else in or near your home that is only used at the troubled times, try to narrow it down. -- Ofallon, Mo Weather , | |

| sorry i have posted back in a little while. ive been searching my house trying to figure out the problem. but havent found anything inside the house.
then i started watching this weird looking street light out side my house, it looks nothing like the other ones on the street. so i set up a camera so i could time it up perfectly with my dsl losing sync and it turns out everytime that street light goes out my dsl goes out.
so ive come to the conclusion that the street light is causing the interference with my dsl connectivity.
ill be calling the electric company tomorrow had have them come out to fix the light and see if that corrects this 5 month long problem.

| I've had pretty much the same disconnection problems this guy has had. Been going on with the problem now for about 4 or 5 months. I get disconnected randomly during the time of 4pm to about 11pm and it's really killing my online play. I was just about ready to give up after calling Centurytel tech just about every week and getting nothing done. Still haven't found the problem but I'm going to look at the local street lights and I'm hoping that's what it is :x If not I'll repost in another topic and continue calling tech I guess. | |

Go ahead and start another topic, and post a screenshot of the stats page in your modem. We'll see if we can find some kind of fix. -- Splitpair for Techs forum mod
