 [AZ] HSI issues in Tucson

I've been having trouble with my COX internet since I got it. Connectivity itself is not an issue, but the actual responsiveness of that connection is. I have a list, pages long, where I log all the outages on my connection.

Most of the day, the internet is dreadfully slow. AIM and other IM clients will remain connected the entire time, but whereas I could be talking to someone on AIM, no websites will load. The internet is generally slow to the point of painful, and most of the time pages will simply decide not to load, rather than load slowly.

(It is a running joke now at my house, that websites are so slow, the progress-bar in the browser actually starts going backwards -- that our internet is so bad, websites unload.)

I don't know what the issue could be. Someone has already come out to check on my connection and did something which they said would boost its performance. Aside from now being able to use a splitter on the line where my modem is connected, there is no improvement.

I did a SmokePing the other day, but it doesn't seem to show the problem which I am describing. If anyone can find a correlation, do let me know... »/r3/smokeping.···erate%21

Being that AIM stays connected I would put money down that your connection is DNS related as others have seen...

Try changing your DNS servers in your PC's to

4.2.2.1
4.2.2.2
4.2.2.3
4.2.2.4
(Pick 2)

TO change DNS:

Have you scanned for viruses/spyware?

Do you have a firewall? I could be slowing your connection.

I've a clean system, no doubt about that. I tried disabling the firewall for a bit, but saw no improvement. Other computers on my network also suffer these problems, so I know it isn't isolated to my system.
