| I don't know how other people are dealing with Bell but they're screwing me over.
My contract ends on Dec 4. I called in to cancel and they told me I agreed to renew my contract on Oct 13. I didn't receive any email, calls or anything about it but somehow, they have me agreeing to a contract in their system. And now they're saying I have to pay the $100 to cancel before Nov 2008!
I can't remember the last time I've been this angry and frustrated. I've posted in the direct forum, hopefully they'll be able to look into it and help me. |

Send them an email in the "contact us" explaining the problem.
False representation of a product.
You have to go with their "unlimited" service being limited.
It takes one day to get a reply, just follow their instructions. -- Q:WHAT'S BLUE AND WHITE AND LIVES IN THE BASEMENT?? A:Losers Even After Forty Seasons |

| reply to diggler649 I called Bell to cancel this morning and expected it to be a nightmare judging from what i'd read on here. I don't actually know when my contract ended or ends, but it didn't seem to be an issue for me.
Instead it was probably one of the easiest calls i've made to Bell ever. Went through the menu system and got through to the cancellation dept. Told the girl I wanted to cancel, she asked why and I was very honest with her and told her that I download a lot via p2p and with the throttling that's come into effect my account no longer suits my needs. She made one attempt to keep one which was saying 'You do know you're on an unlimited account' to which I explained that it was no good having an unlimited account if I could only download at 30kB/s. She said she could understand that, told me i'd have to give a months notice which would mean the 20th of December and asked if that was ok. I said yes and she gave me my cancellation number.
Was on and off the phone within about 4 minutes, if that. Strangely it's the first time i've actually been impressed with the service i've gotten after calling Bell, and it happens when i'm calling to cancel. |

If you are on any kind of plan you should call back and make sure you didn't get charged the 100.00 cancelation fee. |

They said I signed a conract in may when the service changed.. I did no such thing, I don;t even use their service for e-mail so I didn;t receive any notice of change of suervice.
I explained among other things that if you are going to send out such an important notice regarding a HUGE change intheir so claled unlimited service that is must be done by registered mail. it was not therefore there is no way they can hold me ot any kind of contract.
It took all day, hrs of talking to many different people, I had to threaten to cancel my phone and Satelite as well, but I was able to cancel without the 100.00 cancelation fee. |

| reply to diggler649 The funny thing is I tried like over a month to renew my contract for 12 months so I could save money and they told me that they don't offer contracts anymore. Maybe it was just for me .
So when you sign up with BS you are on a 12 month contract by default????

| reply to diggler649 No, I sign people up all the time on month-to-month plans.
It's easier to sell that way compared to saying, "You're in a 6/12/24/36 month contract".
Gives 30 days notice, then drop your modem off at a local Bell World store, and lastly make sure you get a cancel confirm # and a receipt from the Bell World store saying you returned the modem. |

@bell.ca | reply to TI POIL Wish I had've seen your advice earlier today. I likely wouldn't have my current headache. For anyone trying to cancel without penalty, I advise you to save your breath and follow frenchie29's advice. |

I'd certainly chip in some cash to let the rest of the country know about the illegal practises of bell and it's so called "contracts"/ service agreements. |

| reply to DjEclipse to be honest, I have no idea what the cost, but assuming you'd have to get it aired on a couple (3 or 4) canadian networks/stations i'm sure it's not cheap. And running it once per station just wouldn't do it.. I would think it's have to be aired atleast twice a day over a couple/three days to get the message out to enough people to see it, and possibly even raise an eyebrow or two... |

| Just air it during Dancing With The Stars. You would hit about half the country there.
Or better yet, during Hockey Night In Canada. |

| I think you're out by a factor of at least 250 and probably closer to 1000
Remember they wouldn't consider such an ad as a "public service" announcement and they wouldn't run it in the middle of HNIC unless you could outbid the likes of Molson Coors or Esso or companies whose advertising budget is in the mega millions. |

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search A public service announcement (PSA) or community service announcement (CSA) is a non-commercial advertisement typically on radio or television, ostensibly broadcast for the public good.
The main concept is to modify public attitudes by raising awareness about specific issues.
What was that you were saying? |

@bell.ca | reply to mbrown0420 How about everyone takes turns running some adwords ads?:) I'm sure we could come up with some fairly cheap keywords related to Canadian Internet, since there is so little competition in the space. |
