Re: Project Pronto and Alcatel 1000

Hello Kenspi or others,

Your comments on accessing setup of the Alcatel 1000
are much appreciated. I bought a second hand unit which
included so documentation. (Maybe that is standard?).

I'm not getting syn, so it could be my vpi/vci is not 0/35,
as required by my ISP (zNET in north San Diego, running
through Pac Bell).

But, when I accessed the Alcatel setup at »10.0.0.138
and clicked on Bridge, I found that no Port showed, and
I wasn't allowed to add one.
The messages: (at top of page) LM: Modem and IWV are not
initialized.
(at bottom) Error: Cannot create port.

Any thoughts on what the problem is?

Thanks very much,

BobH

Is the modem connected to a known active ADSL circuit? I've never seen the message, but it sounds like it might need to be communicating with a DSLAM for changes to be made. When my modem was still config'd for 8/35, I got sync, but no traffic would pass. After the settings were changed, I was able to surf.

Unfortunately I can't afford to "down" my circuit to try it out myself.
