Is there a W2K update to run dual core processors?

Is there a Windows2000 update to allow it to run dual core processors in dual core mode?

That is utilizing both cores rather than running them only as if they were a single core cpu.

A) the AMD Opties or AM2's?

B) the Intel Core2Duo's?

Re: Is there a W2K update to run dual core processors?

By default it should use both since it appears to the OS as 2 CPUs. XP and later have some more sophisticated detecgtion and process scheduling for multi-core, but it should utilize both cores under 2k as well.

If this was an existing machine that had a single core machine that had its CPU upgraded you will need to switch the OS from a uniprocessor setup to a multiprocessor setup.

That's it. I just found the microsoft KB article that explains how to do that. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
