I remember that. I also remember that the majority of people didn't want picturephones at the time either. Due to the fact of "always on" cameras issue-even though there was a "turn-off" feature. However, the "digital pad" was also new at the time-remember rotary dialing-and that is now the norm. Imagine rotary-dialing on your cell phone...hehe.
Now we have VoIP W/video cams-which can STILL be turned off.
New York Worlds Fair 1964 was the last of them as well...
However...I'll keep my ATT hardline for the time being, as it ALWAYS WORKS-PERIOD. Can't say the same thing for my cable co.(Charter).
Not to mention my 3 phones that I purchased back in '81 from ATT that STILL does the job(Tamstar, Trimline, and the 1956 style phone with the digital pad).
