| Nero Ultra Enhanced 7 came with a built in updater. It's supposed to update only what needs to be updated. It actually ran for me ONCE in the past but, it never functioned correctly again. Does Nero 8 Ultra not have a internal update mechanism? -- »/forum/wall |

| Yes it does. The default is every 30 days, but a manual update is possible.
Edit: Just tried the manual update and the Nero Control Center is now "Not Responding" and Task Manager doesn't seem to be able to end the process. -- Life is simply one damned thing after another. |

| The Nero Update doesn't freeze for myself, it rather fails in some regards saying something about an engine update failure. If the engine works, it's just far too slow to download the incremental updates. So far their has not been an update to Nero 7 Ultra Enhanced for quite sometime (the update center states I'm fully up to date with Nero 7) so I've now disabled the auto update center all together and just check the site manually now. The auto update feature was supposed to be FIXED in Nero 7 in February of 2007. -- »/forum/wall |

| reply to Dustyn Dustyn,
I ran the Version eight updater twice now. The first time about a month ago which was a fare size update and just the other day which is only an update to Nero Burning ROM and Nero Express.
In both cases it worked fine and only download the components it needed. |

| reply to HolmanGT Wow. That's a very nice change! Too bad they haven't really fixed it in version 7. -- »/forum/wall |

| Dustyn,
I don't know that there is all that much new to get excited about in Version 8 but they did make the user interface a lot more friendly.
I could never find anything in Version 7, even something I just used I would have to search for ten minutes to find it again.
It could be that Version 8's approach just appeals to me but I do find it a lot easier to get around in.
Also I just ran the version 7 updater on my laptop and it seemed to work OK albeit there were no current updates. I had decided not to even fool with to many upgrades on my laptop (XP Pro). I mean it only has the one cd/DVD and I don't think there is much they can do to turn that into a Mercedes. The truth be know it is a Dell 17" Letter Box screen and the text is so small that I have a difficult time reading the screen so I don't use it all that much anyway. In fact all I have been using it for is to Modify Cell Phones. Most Cell Phone hacking software doesn't play well with VISTA. (not that much does) |
