I'm soooo close to cable (not close enough they need to run .25 miles to get me at $6000 my cost HA) and my phone says not available for verizon DSL.
can I call anyone to really look into this? anyone know where to start the CSRs are pointless and machines anyway. is there any real person who can help me make it happen? I just got there phone service and I have a tall grey box on my property. I'm a little remote like .25 miles from a main highway but again a little remote.
thanks for any help j |

Ask for them to check your loop by Address and not TN |

| reply to jld Nope. You're screwed like the rest of us. Both Verizon and the government consider DSL a "luxury", not a necessity, and Verizon only deploys it to a portion of their customers. And now that most of their CAPEX is going to upgrading that same portion of customers to FIOS, you're not going to get DSL anytime soon; probably never.
However, if you call VZ and ask for T1 service instead, they'll gladly bend over backwards and run the line to you no matter where you live. Just be prepared to pay, oh, $800/month for it. |

| reply to jld Depending on how long you have has phone service, DSL loop information may have not updated. It can take up to 2 weeks for the records to align.
If you want to talk to a real person, look in the front section of the phone book for Verizon's Customer Service number. Call them and explain the problem. Tim |

| reply to jld I am dealing with something like this myself, may want to see how far you are from a local office or sub-station. They were telling me that if a subscriber is within 18,000 ft of a office or substation they are eligible. this is the loophole that let me have it. Good luck!!!!!!! |

| reply to jld Depending where you are in PA, you could try Acedsl.com . Enter your area code and number on the welcome page. This company uses the same database the Verizon On Line uses to determine eligibility.
If the results come back as loop unknown or other such, the number is not registered yet in the engineering database. The numbers update every Thursday, IIRC so today will be a fresh look into the situation. Tim -- The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits. |
