Increase jpg size without loss in quality

Is there a better way to increase a jpg's size without losing lots of the details? I have a map that I am trying to increase, and when I use irfanview to increase the size, of course, the tiny details that I need get fuzzy

Any ideas?

Thanks

Well, since .JPG is a lossy format it's tough. Everytime resave one, it loses image data and can gain "artifacts"...those blotchy bits.

It really depends on how good the original is, particularly how big it is. Ya just can't make a 200x200 pixel image into a 5" by 10", there's just not enough data there. You cna downsize pretty easily, but not the other way.

Thats why Vector images are great, they can be resized every-which-way.

If you want to post it, we can take a whack at it though.
Just state the size you'd want it to be, and perhaps what the intended use is.

depending on the complexity, you could import the map into a vector image program like illustrator and us the trace command to turn it into a vector format then resize it. something with solid colors and lines like a map might work well with this method.
