Many file archivers use lossless data compression in order to reduce the archive's size.
With that definition out of the way, let us explore our users favorite File Archiver.

Mainly it is used to extract archives I've downloaded, but I also use it to create archives as well. On my system, in its fastest mode, it can compress a standard DVD5 in around 10 minutes. Of course the tradeoff is less compression.
At work, I use both the Windows standard zip utility on one machine, and WinZip on another. -- "The trouble with computers, of course, is that they are very sophisticated idiots." - Doctor Who (from Robot)

| reply to mike31mets WinRAR for me for many years now. One of the programs I've used for the longest time, and one of the first that gets installed on my machine after a reinstall.
Great poll, thanks. |
