Re: [POLL] Instant Messaging Clients - 2008 Member Choice

MSN since my work is a MS Gold partner. I only use it at work and virtually no one else has an AIM account. I tried Trillian - very buggy and I did not like the interface at all.

Dunno, IM clients just seem so...5 years ago.

All contact for me now is through email/phone/fax (business), cell phone/VoIP (friends at home), and ventrilo (online friends).

Not sure how I got out of the habit of logging in to AIM, used to have it on constantly, but now...I log on about once every few months, if that.

Thanks for the poll, Rob A See Profile!

To avoid clutter and crapware, I use Trillian in Windows to connect to ICQ, Yahoo, and MSN networks.

In Linux I use Kopete to do the same thing. I see no need for multiple clients when one does the job for me.

I've installed Yahoo! Messenger again. I haven't used this in a long time. Maybe I'll get back into the chat room scene. *shrug*

the only one I use now is Windows Live Messenger (MSN).
Used to be a fan of Yahoo! IM but most of my friends jumped ship to MSN.

Using MSN and Yahoo. Don't IM much with either but they are handy for notifying on received email.

Great Poll Rob!

I voted AIM simply because it was usually the only way I could contact my 'kids' when they were away from home. (Seems everyone used it back then).

VERY rarely even use an IM client these days...suppose I still keep it around, well, 'just cuz'.

None at the present. But if I was going to put one on this computer, it would be Trillian, which I've used in the past.

I use Aim and Google Talk for my closest and best friends. Otherwise I use Pidgin (the big brother of Gaim, but I didn't feel marking it as Gaim would be right). It runs a second aim account, Yahoo!, MSN, and ICQ for me in one window I can minimize when Outsiders need to talk to me in real time and not email.

AIM, Google Talk, and Google Hello

People forget that Google runs two chat programs. Google Hello is MUCH faster when sharing files though.
