WRVS4400N Firewall problem...???

My WRVS4400N works fine with new Firmware, except couple things:

Port 23 (if you test on Shieldsup.com) is closed, but visible
Default rules permitting WAN access to everything
VPN could lose connection at any time and to restore it I have to restart whole router... By soft buttons it doesn't work...

What to do, to solve all this problems?
Please, just not offer me replace unit with something else- I'm coming to this point by my self... ))

Thank you.

Firstoff,

what firmware version are you using? The latest is 1.1.03 and has proven to be an "85 percent" improvement for the device. Second, it has been noticed that it is an issue to get the router to go back to factory default at times; the best way to do things is to unplug "any" ethernet cables plugged into the router's LAN ports, to include the WAN port. Then, unplug the power cord.

Press the reset button a few times just to discharge (it sounds hokey, but this procuedure works for me). Next, hold the reset button down and plug the power cable back in. Hold the button down for a "minimum" of 45 seconds. For some reason, the memory sometimes takes a herculean effort to clear

Once you've down this, the router should be back to factory default. Upon going back into the router's web gui, go to the administrative page and reset the router to factory default. When the router comes back up, make all of your configurations "with nothing plugged into any of the ports."

This is the "die-hard" method of clearing the "bastage" out!:)

Once you've got the configuration you want, plug all of your cables back in and do a reboot. Things should be square now. If not, repeat the process (but you shouldn't have to...)

Thank you, Jay!

It works! Very strange for Cisco sub-division to release so "user independent" product...

This is just one of the "quirks" we're finding out while doing our "field" testing for Linksys with this product over at linksysinfo.org .

I'm shooting an email to our tech rep to have a closer look at the eprom in these units because the WRV200 has the "exact" same behavior.

But port 23 is still visible... And closed... How to hide it? In my case this router useless!!!
