| Interesting New U-Joint
Stumbled across this the other day and thought it might be of interest to my fellow gear-heads. Watch the video, it's pretty neat! »cvcoupling.com/index.php?option=···temid=58 -- One man's Magic is another man's Engineering. |

| reply to drjim I watched their promo video, really cool stuff, CV/U joints have been basically unchanged for many many years.
I have had a few of them give way and it can be a disaster, when they break you are down, there is no way to "limp" home if one breaks. -- Looking for fly shit in pepper. |

I remember seeing the front u-joint give way on a truck going down the road one time.... boy, did that driveshaft throw the back end of the truck up in a hurry when it snagged the pavement! |

| reply to drjim »www.rblewis.net/personal/bronco/driveshaft/ I used to have a '67 Bronco and had to work on these double-U w/spindle joints. Looks like they call them 'double cardan'. I don't know what else they were/are used on. I don't remember if this joint had the angular rotation issues they talk about in the Thompson Coupling video. I would like to see them directly compared.
I like the looks of the Thompson Coupling. |

| Yeah, I remember those. I had a buddy with one of the "old" small Broncos and I remember him replacing those. I think the Thompson Joint is configured differently, but without really pouring through their website in detail, I can't visualize exactly how it goes together. -- One man's Magic is another man's Engineering. |
