The "a" is for assisted, which means that the phone gets GPS satellite info from the system, so it can then quickly get a fix on the GPS satellites, with a lot less signal than is required for standalone GPS units. The (legitimate) complaint with respect to the Blackberry 8830 is that VZW has disabled the standalone GPS functionality. |
